  The worst gift of Christmas

  everybody gets one, the gift that stared up at you hopefully from its beautiful wrapping, and then, like a deflated balloon, delivers the worst gift ever.. i'm not talking about the gifts from small children like the "greatest aunt" coffee mug or the red and black lace folding fan.

  surely you never would have chosen them for yourself, but it's the thought that counts from small people who love you.. then, there's the what the hell were they thinking gifts.

  my mother-in-law has been giving these a lot lately.

  And then there was the "we don't celebrate Christmas, we get gifts all year long" pitch to all of our friends when they inquired. But...we never got any gifts as kids.

  somehow, i don't have a warm fuzzy feeling when i keep hearing from the center of disease control, "ebola is not spread through the air ...".

  ever sneezed?

  the famous myth busters had a revealing show on the power of the sneeze anecdotally it has a velocity of some 35 miles per hour and travels a distance of some 30 feet.. ever traveled in the close confines of an air liner?

  Heaven, where you are?

  so in the last couple of months we lost robin williams and joan rivers and i have heard something a lot.

  i bet they are loving the comedy shows in heaven, or they are now performing with no pain and so on.

  so is this the image christians have of heaven, that what you are on earth is what you will be doing in heaven?

  Like I said, "Grow Up". I don't believe in life after death either, but I don't berate people who do. In fact I support them because it is their belief system, at least they believe. Decent people respect others, you sir do not posess that capacity along with the others of your ilk.

  Poeple are drawn to a God of compassion. You have just proven to all onlookers that you have nothing to offer. God wins, you lose.

Bet you wouldn't say that crap to my face, and I am Christian. I assure you, you would not say that to my face.... I'm sick of the bashing, it's got to stop.

  granted, they are "extremists", but can they really garner enough extremist converts to make a run at it?

  Do you suffer from WELTSCHMERZ?

  definition of weltschmerz1: mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state 2: a mood of sentimental sadness.

  as a jw, horrific news and reports of terrible suffering and tragedy never especially shocked or disturbed me because of the conviction i had that it was all temporary suffering caused by satan and the demons and it was soon to end and be replaced by a wonderful new system where all those who suffered and died would be resurrected.

  it took the edge off life's harshness.. these fantastical beliefs innoculated me against really feeling and empathisizing with the reality of the horror and suffering experienced by so many in this world.

  My personal opinion only; I am no longer a Witness per se, however, I still believe in Bible prophecy. That being said, here's how I see it shaping up. Islam will actually attempt to take over the world. Or at the very least, threaten to. This will prompt world governments to attempt, and perhaps successfully, to shut down all of earths religions (Bible prophecy fulfilled). Religion, especially in today's world is the root cause for all of the skurmishes we see in the news.

  Long story short, it has to go. And by the destruction of all religions, another notch in Bible prophecy will have been completed.

  I do not believe Jehovah has abandoned mankind, and that he will right the wrongs of man on his own timetable. So while I see the egregious acts of horror brought upon men through the beliefs of Islam, there will come a time when it will stop.

  All men will come to know that Jehovah is the executor of justice, and, ISIS will cease to exist.

  Maybe they are actually "getting it". Worship doesn't have to be *that* complicated. The streaming TV, the Internet. They're getting the point that Jesus made, it shouldn't be difficult to worship God.
